Scottie dog cake

Can anybody help I just made the Scottie dog cake for a cancer charity for a family friend. Everything went fab but the doggy has started to lean backwards I have propped him up. But was wondering if any body had any ideas to keep him from falling backwards. Thank you

Hi Julix069

Here’s an answer I gave to another member who had exactly the same problem as you have:

Troublesome Westie

She posted her picture on Paul’s google+. You’ll find a link inside the one above.

Hello Julix069,

I have made 2 scottie dogs and the same thing happened to both my cakes, very top heavy. The second one was after I went to bed at 4 a.m. and got up the next morning (day cake was due), to see the head collapse into the cake. I had a reprieve and started the cakes again but this time carved the head out of styrofoam and covered it, which definitely worked for me. I just made the dog bigger using the same amount of cake. Just another angle for you. E x

Thank you for all your solutions . I supported the dogs head and body and left refrigerated overnight and that seemed to work well. I think next time I might try the styrofoam . Thank you again for your time. Julie
