Servings with the Guitar Cake

Hello all,

Sorry if this is posted twice – tried earlier and it said the question was already posted but I cannot locate it.

I am wondering if anyone knows how many actual servings are in Pauls guitar cake? I know the sizes of cakes he starts with, but he does carve quite a bit away. I’ve been asked to do a electric guitar cake to serve 25-30 people and I’m not sure there would be that many servings?
I have also contemplated making it into a stand up cake using a plywood back frame with shelves to hold the cake. Has anyone tried that? I’d love some feedback with images or advice/thoughts!

Thanks everyone!

Shelley

Hi ShellsBells

Take a peek here for the answer:

I’ve seen the guitar cake as you’ve described but can’t find which site it was on. It looked really impressive. If I find it I’ll post for you to see. x

This is the one I was thinking of:

but there are loads of others to choose from.

Thanks MIWL, I did see Jessica’s post – that’s what got me thinking!
And I don’t know about in the UK, but here serving sizes must be quite a bit larger! I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a cake cut into such tiny pieces as 1×1! I’d think maybe 2×2 would be closer to what is common? I’d be interested in others feedback from Canada or the States on this as well (this is for a birthday too, not a wedding where yes, I believe sizes would be somewhat smaller).
Thank you for the information, and although I would tend to size up the pieces, the link definitely answered my question and how they did it was smart!

The 1 x 1 serving in the UK is for fruit cake, 2 x 1 is for sponge cakes. If you do make the standing guitar cake don’t forget to post it on Paul’s facebook and on his google+. Find both at the bottom of this page. x
