Shoe Cake – HELP!

I’m making the Jimmy Choo cake for my little cousin’s 18th party in Dublin so I need to transport the cake via Ryanair (EEEEK!) as I will not have enough time to make it there. I plan on carrying the shoe box as hand luggage. The shoe mold I was going to put on a bed of cotton wool inside a tupperwear box. I’ll attach the heel when I get there. I’ve never worked with flower paste. Do you think it will survive the journey if I transport it like this?

Hi natant82
Some people sell sugar shoes and put them through the post so yours should be ok if it is with you. Hope all goes well, Grace

Hi Natant82.It should be fine if you transporting it like that. Just make sure you keep it discreetly under the seat rather than in the overhead locker. Take a tool kit with you just in case of repairs. I transported a wedding cake to Greece like that! Good luck!.

When I made a shoe I made the sole from pastillage which made it much stronger. Would definitely go down this route if I made another. I found when I made the sole from gumpaste it kept snapping in the middle.

Thanks for all the advice! Fingers crossed it arrives in one piece! 🙂
