Hi, do the spray cans with clear, pearl, gold, silver etc leave a taste on the fondant as it smells really weird! Also when should you use steam on finished fondant cakes or decorations and what does it achieve? Thank you

The sprays don’t have a taste, the smell is just the alcohol which evaporates after spraying. Steam is used on wired flowers to set the colour for a more realistic look. Cakes don’t get steamed and apart from flowers I’ve never steamed models or other cake decorations however you can. If you search in youtube ‘how to steam cake topper’ you’ll see a very good tutorial from laurapoopie. Hope it helps. x
