Sticky fondant

Help! I’ve just done my first ganached cake and it looked great, but I made the mistake of applying the fondant straight after getting the cake from the fridge! Now the fondant is sticky, will it recover or should I remove the  fondant and start from scratch?

The moisture from the ganache will help your fondant to adhere, it might look a bit dewy but will dry out ok, just don’t try and swab it because it’ll make the icing shiny in patches and spoil the look of your cake.

Thanks for your answers, cake is to be delivered tomorrow so I ended up taking the fondant off and starting again, cake looks great now. I won’t do that again in a hurry!
