Hi there im an Amateur cake baker and stared as a hobby but now friends and family are asking me to make cake for them. I don’t think they are good enough and would like to improve. I don’t know what online coure would be best, can you please help? I was thinking about the birthday special but wasn’t sure. Thanks for your time.

Hi Alexandra

I’m sure your cakes aren’t that bad! By the birthday special do you mean the cornelli design with roses? That is a good beginners cake to start with, but I would suggest practicing the cornelli before you attempt it. You can use an upturned cake tin and put the design on that to see how well it looks. Another easy cake to do would be the box explosion, it’s stunning. The bow cake in the free/beginners section is also wow and would make any birthday special. With Halloween around the corner, how about the Halloween cake? And for Christmas, the traditional Christmas cake is a really easy design with a massive impact. There are designs in the library for all the family from the youngest to the more mature, with many achievable by beginners. Just plan and prep, make up as many of the decorations in advance so the problem of drying models and such is kept to a minimum, there’s no reason why your efforts won’t be rewarded. Hope some of my suggestions help.

Hi Alexandra,

Both the monthly and Birthday offer memberships include unlimited access to all of our online courses. The Pro membership includes all of these courses, plus everything you’ll need to know to learn how to make profit from cake decorating.

If it’s just the cake decorating courses you are interested in, then I would suggest either the monthly or birthday offer. The Birthday offer is available until the end of the month and the only difference between this and the monthly membership is that the birthday offer works out at £5.91/month when you pay for the full year, whereas the monthly membership is £9.95/month for as long as you’d like your membership to continue.

Hope that helps,

Thanks,

Matt
