Guide for Buttcream quantities

Could you tell me if you have a size guide for the quantities of buttercream needed for cakes please, I know you have one for ganache but I normally use buttercream and end up making too much.

Thank you.

Hi nicky@223

At present there isn’t a calculator but there is a chart which can be downloaded here:

Buttercream covering and filling guide

The chart shows filling and coverage for several sizes and heights cake. If you have problems following it, please post back. ?

Thank you, I have looked at the chart it is very useful. Could you also tell me what depth of buttercream is normal between layers. I know it probably varies but just as a general guide .
Thank you.

A good filling depth is approximately a quarter of an inch. This is sufficient to satisfy the eating experience without affecting the stability of each layer. However, as you have mentioned, it is personal choice and amounts do vary.

The coverage depth is also approximately the same amount or until the cake is evenly covered and smooth. ?

Thank you very much for your help, this is a great guide,
